My mother, Helen Navadauskas Lambert, died on December 2, 2001, while visiting her sister Milly, her nephew Sterling, and Sterling's wife Connie. Because the family is so scattered around the country, we decided to wait for spring to hold a memorial for Mom.
In May, I traveled up to Auburn, Massachusetts to get things ready for our memorial celebration of Mom's life. My daughter Vikki and her husband Ian are living in Mom's house for now. While we planned the service and cleaned the house - sending things to various relatives, getting things ready for my brother Alan to take to Lancaster, donating clothes and crafts and all - we also took time for other family memorial business.
