The rehearsal

The wedding rehearsal was on Friday early evening in Ulmstead State Park, at Camp Whispering Pines, where the wedding was to be. This is virtually the front yard of the house Keith gets to rent as a ranger. It is a large open area, with a dining lodge with a huge kitchen on one side and a bunch of cabins, and the requisite toilets and showers. Keith and Mari reserved the whole place for the week-end, so guests could actually stay right there. The weather cooperated wonderfully - no rain, hot in the daytime, and cool enough in the evening to be comfortable.

Vikki and Ian flew in from California early so they could visit friends and his folks in Charlotte. Then they came to Durham on Thursday. Also on Thursday, Keith's parents (his Mom Lou and step-Dad), his sister Kim, and her son flew in from Massachusetts. Kim's husband Ed, who doesn't fly, came by train. Keith's family is a neat as he is. This is going to be a good match.

The bachelor and bachelorette parties were on Thursday evening. So the guys (who sure did stay out later than we girls did) were a bit wasted for the rehearsal, but were fine for the actual wedding on Saturday. Good planning.

The participants discussing how to organize the ceremony. That's the best man, Keith's sister Kim, Mari's sister Vikki (doing her imitation of a balloon by spreading her sweatshirt with her hands in her pockets), Gary who performed the ceremony, Keith (with Ardyn), and Keith's nephew.

By the time Vikki and I returned from the rehearsal, Charles, Trish, Andrew, and Missa were driving up from South Carolina to stay in cabins at Ulmstead. So the whole family - or families - was assembled for the celebration.
